PCR-based avian sexing kit for rapid and reliable determination of bird sex from feather or blood samples.
The Avian GEN ID Kit provides a fast and reliable method for avian sex determination using PCR amplification of the CHD1 gene. The kit utilizes the P0/P2/P8 primer set developed by Han et al. (2009), allowing clear differentiation between male and female birds.
Using microLYSIS Plus, a direct-to-PCR lysis buffer, DNA is efficiently released from feather or blood samples without the need for complex extraction steps. PCR-ready lysates are directly amplified, and results are visualized through gel electrophoresis. The method is simple, with results available in under 3 hours, making it suitable for wildlife conservation, breeding programs, behavioral studies, veterinary diagnostics, and avian research.
Gallus gallus domesticus samples were used as template for PCR amplification with Avian GEN ID Mastermix. Avian sex was determined by the presence of two fragments (female) or one fragment (male).
